2023 MU Football Schedule

Published on 28 February 2023 at 15:36

Marshall Universities Football games schedule was announced Friday to include six home games.

Of those six home games, three will be played in September with only one away game during that month stated in Fridays release by Marshall Athletics.

The remaining three will be played in the following months, one during October and the last two in November. These last two home games are part of the last three games to be played in the regular season, so fans can come and cheer on the Herd as the team marches to the Sun Belt Conference championship.

Coming off a good start to their first year in the Sun Belt Conference, Marshall is moving to play some tuff schools this season. Virginia Tech of the Atlanta Coast Conference will be playing the Herd at the Joan C. Edwards Stadium this September, the first time a team from that conference will be visiting Huntington since 2018.

Octobers only home game for the Herd will put Marshall in the spotlight on ESPN during primetime for any non-attending fans at home while they take on James Madison.

Head coach Charles Huff said in Fridays release he wants to see as many Marshall fans in the stands as possible this season to show their support for the team, calling this season “the toughest schedule Marshall has had in a long time,” Huff said.

Marshalls Director of Athletics Christian Spears also said in the release he has high hopes for this season and the audience turnout. “We are going to absolutely need every single Marshall fan to find their way to the Joan,” Spears said.

Spears has high hopes for a championship win this season and says that the team needs this support to push through. “We need our fans there to make that happen.”

With the 2023 season coming closer, Huff says that making the Sun Belt Conference will be something that is earned through well fought games and progress management. “We have to look at the best road map for this schedule in order to see the level of success that we expect,” Huff said.

Marshalls first game will be a home game against Albany on Sept. 2. and Sept. 30 will be another home game to open the Sun Belt Conference against Old Dominion.
